Brian Pawlowski
Brian Pawlowski is a member of technical staff at Network Appliance Inc.,
where he is looking into performance and new architectures for future file server
products. Employee 18 at Network Appliance, he has been involved in several
projects. He worked with the engineering team to produce the first in-house
server design, the F330. He worked on performance improvements in the software,
and helped evaluate platform options for products. He worked for two months
as the escalation
manager in customer service, and then went on to manage the software engineering
group for a year and a half, tripling its size. After recruiting a new VP of
Engineering, Brian returned to performance work. He has been studying and working
on performance improvements to NFS, CIFS and HTTP products from NetApp. He has
recently been studying the problem of utilizing Gigabit Ethernet bandwidth with
distributed file system technologies like NFS and CIFS. He has also worked Japan
with our first OEM Fujitsu to ensure a successful product launch. Brian continues
his involvement with NFS futures in his role as co-chair for the IETF NFS Version
4 Working Group tasked with defining the future direction of NFS.
