IPv6 Centric Networking in a Modern Data Centre

Speaker: Andrew Yourtchenko

Abstract

IPv6 is a solid foundation for the next generation of services. This talk is about two of such services: SIIT-DC and Segment Routing. We discuss how IPv6-centric approach allows to prepare to sunsetting IPv4 and increase the flexibility of your datacenter.

Biography

Andrew remembers the time when a 10-megabyte hard drive was huge and 640×200 monochrome was the highest resolution. The very first networks he installed were as a Novell 4.1 CNE 20 years ago.

In 2000 he started his almost 10-year career in Technical Support, helping the customers resolve complex and urgent issues related to functioning of their security devices. He has a wealth of experience deploying large-scale (10000+ hosts) WiFi networks with IPv6 at large conferences like CiscoLive, FOSDEM, MWC.

He is contributing his practical experience to IETF, to make internet protocols more robust and deployable. Some notable publications being RFC6555 (“Happy Eyeballs”, detailing the interactions for dual stack hosts) and RFC7772 (Discussing the battery-friendly configurations for IPv6 networks).
