AbuseIO's Road to Open Source

Abstract

AbuseIO is a tool that converts incoming abuse complaints on networks into aggregated tickets. It automatically collects contact information from existing systems and starts to contact the responsible persons to have them solve the problem. We will have a look at how the project was started and what we learned along the way.

Biography

Bart Vrancken is working over 10 years with BIT, a major Dutch ISP. As one of the system administrations he is responsible for the abuse and incident management at BIT.

Bart has written the base of the AbuseIO system and works as the project manager in the community of AbuseIO. Bart is also active in the Abuse-NL community, RIPE anti-abuse working group and a member of the o-IRT-o, a collaboration of Dutch CERT's.
