Scaling in all Directions on AWS, in Theory and Practice

Abstract

While using the cloud is becoming a common scenario these days, it does require rethinking the architecture of the application stack. The traditional monolithic application doesn't work in the cloud, and on-demand scaling gives a whole new set of challenges. Touching most of the issues encountered when designing for the cloud gives you a starting set of tools and knowledge to get started.

Biography

Igmar has been a coder since 2001, when he got his degree from the HAN university. He is currently a software architect, specialized in designing the architecture for high-traffic websites and webservices. One of his specialization is reactive applications, using the AWS platform; the Amazon WebServices.

Igmar is a founder of the Play! Amsterdam group, who organizes regular meetups targeted at Play! users. He also is a frequent visitor to AWS events. Igmar maintains a blog and is an active Twitter user (@Palsenberg).
