Saltstack workshopSpeakers: Sylvia van Os, Thijs van der Gugten, Tom Scholten AbstractIn todays workshop you are an engineer at DrySalt Inc., a fictive webhosting company. You will have to keep up with the ambitious workload to build the new web farm in just 90 minutes. Using SaltStack, DrySalt Inc. wants notifications from the web farm if any issues arise and obviously their clients need to release new websites. This workshop is a great introduction into SaltStack. You will explore the majority of its possibilities, and learn about salt-cloud, targeting, minions and beacons in SaltStack. Participants bring their own device (including browser and SSH-client) and are experienced linux users, familiar with the command line and vi(m). BiographiesYoung professionals Sylvia van Os and Thijs van der Gugten are talented engineers at Snow BV. Their enthusiasm for SaltStack shines though their contributions to the open source community and it also shows when delivering technical trainings on various linux distributions. Currently assigned at different customers, they work in highly technical, enterprise environments, both tasked with challenging migrations. Tom Scholten, Technical Team Lead and SaltStack Certified Instructor, joins to share his years of consultancy experience. He worked in multiple IT environments using SaltStack, Puppet, Chef, and Ansible. Supporting Snows rapid growth and increased training possibilities, Tom also educates technical trainees and interns, and designs the Snow Academy architecture. As an open source fanatic he looks forward to returning to the NLUUG!
