Speaker: Shannon Burns

Abstract

Internet consumption has changed radically since HTTP 1.1 was released back in 1997. Protocols are changing in step with modern demands - with speed, reliability, and security at the forefront. NGINX has changed too. From caching to compression, I'll walk you through practical ways to transform NGINX from a web server to an application accelerator. No longer just the hipster web server you've come to know and love, we're here to help you weather the winds of change, ever present in our industry.

Biography

Before joining NGINX as a developer advocate, Shannon was a full stack engineer programming in Ruby on Rails and Ember.js and a developer in operations building internal tools with Meteor. When she's not talking to people about computers or to computers about people, you can find her bravely navigating the streets of San Francisco on her electric bicycle or lindy-hopping awkwardly at dance halls.
